5 Bene’t Street

History of 5 Bene't Street

A. Gray in Cambridge Revisited (1921) notes that under the eaves of no.5 could be seen three iron rings fixed to the roof. These would be used, in the event of a fire, to pull the roof off with ropes or firehooks. There is, or was, a firehook on display in St Bene’t’s Church.
