A B Gray in Cambridge Revisited notes in 1921:
A few steps bring us to the group of old cottages at the end of Maids’ Causeway, next to James Street. Of these the quaintest is the wooden cottage (No.74) standing shyly back with its little triangular garden between doorway and footpath; it contains but three rooms, is built of wood throughout, and has weathered the storms of at least 100 years. In the early part of the 19th century it was the home of one Solomon, the organ blower and bell-ringer of King’s Chapel.
