Alfred Cornelius Charles Butler
Born in 1894, Cambridge; married Ivy Violet Hilda Nye in 1919, Cambridge; died 1985, Cambridge.
Charlie ‘Bandsman’ Butler served with the Cambridgeshire regiment in WWI as a bugle boy and was awarded the Military Medal for saving an officer’s life during the Battle of the Somme. In WWII he volunteered to serve with the Territorial Army and served as a bandsman.
After the war he worked as a paintsprayer at Marshalls. The couple later moved to 98 Hobart Road.
