Glebe Road

History of Glebe Road

Glebe Road appears on the 1920 map of Cambridge stretching its full length from Hills Road to the as yet unnamed Mowbray Road. The Perse School House is labeled on the map but there are few other buildings actually along the road and eastern end is labeled ‘allotment gardens.’

The origin of the name Glebe is likely to be because the land was originally part of the glebe holding of the parish of St Andrew’s Cherry Hinton.
