History of High Street, Doddington
In 1953 Alan Bloom noted (The Fens, 1953): The road to Doddington runs along the lowly ridge of the second largest island in the Fens. …. Passing through Fen villages, one doesn’t see many gay cottage gardens. So often the house is built so close to the road that no front garden is possible. That makes the plain front of the house even plainer.
