In 2023 IP sent this note: My 2 x Gt Grandfater, John Skinner (1840-1903), is possibly buried in the cemetery as there is a memorial stone (flat in the grass) with both his and his wife’s (Helen). name. His registered baptism is in Godstone, Surrey. John was the coachman for Charles Darwin at Down House from at least 1881 (in census records), up until his death. He moved to Cambridge , with his family, following Charles’ widow. In the 1901 census, he was living at 35 Canterbury Terrace, Benson St.

Edgar William Porter reported missing 15/2/1915. The official file notes that his mother Mrs Ellen Porter is living at 20 Canterbury Street.
In 1901 the family were living at 44 Russell Street.
Edgar William Trowbridge Porter: Private, 1st Battalion Suffolk Regiment. Died 15/02/1915. Age 25.
