According to Cambridge iron Founders, 1996, David [?] Simons established his iron foundry circa 1872 in Bermuda Lane. This was later renamed Foundry Road, Foundry Lane and finally Bermuda Road in 1900. Until the 1970s members of the family carried on the business very near the original address under the name T Simons and Sons Ltd at 160 Histon Road.

Amongst their work are the manhole covers for the De Freville Estate and the cast iron roof truss supports for the Chivers factory in Histon.
