History of Warkworth House

c1881:

Joseph Wiles lived here with his family and ran a school.


1914

Cambridge University Training College for Schoolmasters


Lodging house for various colleges run by Mrs Laure-Marie Arnold. In 1983 her daughter told the CWN:

“I lived at Warkworth House from 1936 until 1978″… Mr and Mrs Arnold used to run Arnold’s Dairy in Victoria Road until competition from the Coop made things very difficult. They then moved to the lodging house at Warkworth House. “My mother was French, she met my father during the First World War when he was fighting in France,” said Mrs McCann.

Run as bed and breakfast establishment by Mrs Kathleen Collins.
