History of 31 Hertford Street

1913

Herbert Peters, chief clerk of County Court

Arthur Brasher (of 33 Hertford Street) told the CWN (9.4.1981) that Mr Peters did all his legal work.

When Mr Peters lost his wife, he had an extension put on the back of his house, and bells installed in every room. His maid, Miss Coe, always dressed in black with a white starched apron. The star turn of the Peters family was obviously young Cyril Peters who intrigued the local youngsters on account of his prowess as a roller skater. We used to go and watch him at the Rex.
