76 Perne Road
History of 76 Perne Road
The shortage of housing and land in Cambridge leads to drastic and astonishing solutions such as the cutting in half of a house on Perne Road to provide access to a new development of four houses and a block of flat behind the row of older established houses. Only half of the house is left (number 76) leaving exposed the chimney breast that was shared with the other half of the house (number 74). The space previously occupied by number 74 now allows access to the new development.
The photo was taken in March 2018 whilst the development was still under construction.
