Listed Building
Inn; original C17 three unit plan, partly rebuilt with cross-wing to street in early C19.
Behind nos 69 and 71 North Street (behind and to the right of the Anchor Public House) was Burnt Yard, the barge building firm of Prentice Brothers. On the north side of Burnt Yard was a maltings and the cut from the lode would bring horse-drawn boats and barges bearing cargoes of grain and coal to the maltings. The maltings was later converted into five or six cottages. The name Burnt Yard may have arisen from a fire at the matings 11/3/1797. (Burwell Chronicle ed 2005)
