In 1901 the Woolnough family were living in St. Mary’s Street, Ely

Gladys wrote down her reminiscences of life in Ely and some can be found in Ely Memories, 1998. She attended Ely High School 1905-1907. She was a keen amateur actress, mainly Gilbert and Sullivan, at the Rex Cinema. She taught at several local schools but then became governess to the three children of Sir Harry Legge-Bourke, MP for Ely 1945-1973.
