In the 1930s a widow Ada Thompson lived here as publican. It was not closed until the 1950s.


Polly Hill, The History of Isleham Fen in the 1930s, has a biography of Mary Wells who in 1904 went to live in once of the Anchor cottages, next to the public house.

She also writes about Richard and Vera Williams. Richard was born in 1905 in one of the Anchor Cottages.
