Public house, early C19 with rear range of separate build but similar date.
In 1933 Dr Charles Lucas recorded that ‘some years ago’ two tinkers arrived in the village and a public auction was announced at the Royal Oak. A woman was led in on a rope and the bidding proceeded. She was sold for half-a-crown to the companion of the tinker who was selling her. (A Grim Almanac of Cambridgeshire, p171)
