St Mark, Friday Bridge

History of St Mark, Friday Bridge

The parish of Friday bridge was only formed in 1860 and the church completed 4 years later. Because the ground has dried out the whole building leans towards the north.

Friday Bridge was an important fruit growing area and during the picking season hundreds of seasonal workers would come up from the East End of London.
