Jenyns House almshouses, The Avenue, March

History of Jenyns almshouses

March’s first almshouses were built in 1672 on High Dyke close to the town centre on a site now occupied by the Museum. Money had been left for the benefit of the poor of March by Roger Jenyns.

By 1851 the old almshouses were uninhabitable. New houses were built in the Avenue. The present ones were modernised in 1972.
