Pilot Rosati, 339th Fighter Group Fowlmere

R.A.F. Fowlmere

History of RAF Fowlmere

RAF Fowlmere was an operating RAF aerodrome from 1918 until 1946. From 1944-45 it was used by the 339th Fighter Group of the USAAF.

Service men would often come into Cambridge. We know that one place they frequented was Nina’s Snack Bar, 2 Rose Crescent, because one American pilot kept the menu, a copy of which was sent to us by his son, J. Rosati.
