In Doris tack’s book about the village, Whispering Elms, she labels this property as no. 3 on her village diagram.

Occupants in 1942:

Mrs Alice Cooper, widow. She was housekeeper to Rev Y D Stewart for 15 years. Mrs Cooper’s husband was killed at Cambridge railway Station where he worked. he was run over by a train in 1916.

Alice Cooper aged 84

Mrs Elizabeth Hubbard (Liz) – widow. Sister of Mrs Cooper.

Before WWII Mrs Cooper kept the village ‘shop; from her home, selling lemonade, cigarettes, sweets etc.
