271 Mill Road, Cambridge

History of 271 Mill Road

22 September 1950

Roger Keith Woollard of Mill Road, Cambridge, aged eight, is surely Cambridge’s youngest aircraft recognition expert. You can see him any Sunday at Cambridge Airport noting down numbers and types of aircraft flying there with the same enthusiasm that some youngsters collect car or engine numbers. I asked him what he did if an aircraft arrived which he could not identify. “I go and ask the duty pilot what it is,” he said. His devotion to this hobby deserves recognition, I would suggest by the appointment as the official mascot of Marshall’s Airport.
