Gilbert Townsend: Lance Corporal 768, 5th (City of London) Battalion (London Rifle Brigade). Killed in action 12th May 1915. Aged 25. Enlisted London, resident Cambridge. Son of William Henry and Emily Townsend, of 134, Tenison Rd., Cambridge. A clerk in Barclay’s Bank. Commemorated on YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Panel 52 and 54. See also Perse School, Cambridge Emmanuel United Reformed Church and Cambridge Guildhall (St Paul’s Roll of Honour)
