Anglo-Saxon cemetery:

White’s Stables

Undergraduates used to stable their horses next to the huge apple orchard that became Croft Gardens (CWN 25.11.1982)

1930s:

Croft Gardens built. Dame Elizabeth Hill, Emeritus Professor of Slavonic Studies 1948-1968 lived here from the 1930s.

1979

Croft Gardens belonged to King’s College. They acquired the White Horse Riding Stable next door in 1979 and then demolished it.

2019

Planning permission granted to demolish flats and replace with student accommodation.
