1911:

Anne Maria Press, 76, widow, b Cambridge

Charles Edward, 33, bank clerk, b Cambridge

Lilian, 39, b Cambridge

The Press family were previously at 14 Park Street


1913:

Charles Edward Press, bank clerk


Charles Edward Press attested for military service in 1915 and was assigned to the Bedfordshire Regiment. He was then 38 years  8 months old. He joined the 14th Herts Regiment 4th June 1917 at Bury St Edmunds, age 41. He was discharged in Thetford 9th March 1919, having served in France. There are no particular details of his service on his UK Army Service Record.

His war time correspondence, and other letters, are held by the Museum of Cambridge. Samples below:
