The two ladies outside the Post Office are all likelihood my great great aunts Mercy and Mildred (“Millie”). They ran the sub-post office for decades either side of WW2. Cornwell was Mercy’s married name; she was widowed within weeks of marriage in 1915. I can’t say which is which as I never met Mercy so don’t know who was the taller. Their brother-in-law was George Harding who was high up in the Cambridge Post Office.
