1898: CIP 23.9.1898: Compositors at Play – Frederick Rayner (19), a compositor of 162 Gwydir Street and Leopold Chanter, compositor of 14 Argyle Street were summoned for playing football on the public thoroughfare on Mill Road. Rayner denied the offence which Chanter admitted. PC Murray proved the charge. They were each convicted. Rayner was fined 2s and Chanter 1s.

1908: CIP 31.7.1908: Wm Rayner cab driver employed at the University Arms was turning his carriage round when Sidney Buttress, errand boy of 72 Russell Street, employed by Mr Tredgett of Market Hill, ran into the carriage on his bike and was run over by the carriage. He was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital but his injuries were slight and he was not detained.
