1917: Joseph Bailey died and left a life interest in the house to Stephen Thompson of the earl of Beaconsfield Beerhouse. On his death the house would pass to the Governors of Addenbrookes Hospital, but after a change in the law in 1925, Thompson was able to be owner outright with no conditions.
