259 High Street Cottenham

259 & 257 (165) High Street, Cottenham

History of 259 & 257 High Street Cottenham

The history of the occupation of this location is difficult to reconstruct. Cottenham in Focus, 2002, contains two photos, one after the construction of no.259, Coronation Villa, and one before, when the thatched cottage on the north side extended further.

Jonathan Piggott is said to have owned the whole of this older property and left it to his daughter, Mrs Bertha Munsey and Mrs Alfred Moore.

Half was pulled down when Mrs Alfred Moore built Coronation Villa (now no.239) in 1902.

The other half did survive for several more years.
