1917

Richard served as a private in the Royal Sussex Regiment. He was wounded in the Battle of Passchendaele [not Somme] on 14th November 1917. Despite a leg amputation he died during a further operation at the 1st Eastern General Hospital in Cambridge on 16th December 1918.
