Railway workers and a birth at Sea

Number 21 is one of a terrace of the three houses on the west side of Ainsworth Street.

1881

George Stevens, 28, Railway Signalman, b Bladlaw Buckinghamshire

1891

Albert Whye, 25, and a Railway Porter originally from Waterbeach is Head of Household.  He is married to Ellen Louisa Whye (nee Goodenough), 26.

The Census records that she was born in St. Helena (the 1881 Census says she was born “on the sea”. Her elder brother was born in Saugor, East India).

They have a two-month-old daughter called Gladys.

William Perkins , 20, a c lerk at a lawyer’s lodges with them.  He was born in Arthingworth, Northamptonshire.

Ellen is buried in Mill Road Cemetery.

1901

James Kefford, 26, Mineral Water Maker, b Trumpington

Alice Kefford, 26, b Quy, Cambs

1911

Henry Joseph Fairweather, 31, baker, b. Cambridge

Rose Mabel Fairweather, 28, b. Cambridge

Ivy Rose Fairweather, 7, b. Cambridge

Henry and Rose are 9 years married and have 1 child.

1921

Henry Howlett, 45, born in St. Giles Parish, Cambridge. General Labourer for the Cambridge Corporation (what looks like ‘Destructive Department’?), based on Riverside.
Charlotte Elizabeth Howlett, 41, born in Holy Trinity Parish, Cambridge. Home Duties.
