48 Sturton Street

David Seales, Tailor

This building no longer stands.

1881 – 1915

Head of household between 1881 and 1915 is David Scates.  In 1881 David is 54 years old and a tailor.  He was born in Bury St Edmunds and is married to Rebecca (nee Abbs).  She works as a laundress and was born in Runton, Norfolk.  The couple previously lived on Willow Walk with Rebecca’s daughter Jane.

Rebecca died in January 1892.

The electoral rolls show that David lived here until 1915. By the time of David’s death in 1919 he was living at 3 St. Andrew’s Street with his step-daughter Jane Saunders Harrod.
