To the Editor of the Cambridge Chronicle.

Sir,— From the neighbourhood of York Street and Abbey Walk many cats have been missing of late. Since Friday week, I have lost a very fine tabby cat, one that was not likely to stray of its own accord far from home. I have offered in vain rewards for its recovery, and as it had a collar round its neck it should be easily recognised. Cats and dogs from all parts of the town are often poisoned, and but rarely recovered. Doubtless many, especially those who frequent Christ’s Piece, are poisoned. I lost a dog through poison picked up there not very long since. Others I am informed are often picked up (I should call it stolen) and sold for medical purposes. If that is so those who purchase them should be very careful, as they cannot all be obtained by fair means. For the recovery of the cat I have lost, I offer a reward of £2 to the person who will restore it to me alive, and if found dead £5 to any person who will give information leading to the conviction of any person or persons who may have destroyed it or caused it to be destroyed.
