1911

Harriet Smith, a 52 year old dressmaker from Suffolk lives here in 1911 with her daughter Kathleen.

Harriet has filled in the census return and calls herself “wife” not head and married not widowed.  She has been married for 31 years and has had four children.  Kathleen is 24 and works as a jam factory hand.

Kathleen and her mother used to live at 149 (Lower) York Street.  The 1901 Census also records Harriet as being married, although her husband isn’t at home on census night.
