Mercy Metcalfe née Gillett lived here from 1910 to 1919.

Michael C Metcalfe, gardener

1914

Michael was killed by a sniper in the Third Battles of Ypres, aged 32. Mercy was left with six children.

1920

Percy John Chamberlain, who had lost his first wife in the ‘flu epidemic of 1918 after the birth of their seventh child, married Mercy and went on to have five more children
