Ashstead Cottage, 54 Alpha Terrace

History of 54 Alpha Terrace

In 1908 this was the home of Frederick William Bunn, a builder’s draughtsman. His housekeeper Miss Ellen Catherine Barker, b 1877, is recorded in the 1911 census but he was in fact married to Emily in 1902, even though she is not listed on the census. In 1901 Ellen Barker had been visiting her mother at 20 Park Street Cambridge who kept a lodging house at the time of that census. Frederick enlisted in the Army Service Corps aged 42 in 1918.

These two postcards sent to Miss Barker at this address refer to Alpha Road, Trumpington.
