George Lister set up engineering works in Abbey Road in 1890. Horace Lister was a visitor to Ellis John Rolls.
Alfred and Horace joined the family firm in 1919. Alfred died in 1928 and George and Horace carried on. In 1930 George died and the Abbey Road site was extended. Horace ran the business until 1954.
