Four bowl barrows at Allington Hill, Bottisham

History of Bowl Barrows, Bottisham

Scheduled Monument:

There are remains of four Bronze Age bowl barrows here. Two were partly excavated in 1852. Cyril Fox says in The Archaeology of the Cambridge Region p.35  that burnt human bones were found, flint implements and animal skulls. There was once an extensive area of burial mounds in south east Cambridgeshire.
