1898
Jabez auctions off the farm and stock.
The Herts & Cambs Reporter (30th September 1898) lists details of an auction. “Messrs J Carter Jones & Sons are instructed by Jabez Ablett (who is leaving the farm) to sell by auction on the premises, the whole of the live and dead farming stock comprising: 8 horses (including 6 powerful cart mares; 3 excellent shorthorn cows; 100 head of poultry; and an assortment of agricultural implements; as well as crops, such as mangolds).”
The family moved to South End, Bassingbourn.
