Enid Porter quotes, from the writings of W H Barrett, in her book Cambridgeshire Customs and Folklore p.5, a song, sung in the tap room of the Ship Inn, about the tradition of bundling (pre-marital relationships):
Now lasses and lads hark to my song,
‘ Tis bundle together all the night long;
The game is risky, allow me to say;
One can also get damaged rolling in hay.
…………..
Now, lusty lads, just listen to me:
A bundle’s a bundle wherever it be.
There’s only one ending for me to sing:
The parson won’t bless you as he puts on the ring.
