11 Milford Street
A railway signalman, a carpenter, a tram conductor, a whitesmith, a needlewoman, and a decorator
11 Milford Street is in a terrace of 11 houses on the south side of the street, with a plaque reading Clara Terrace 1869. The terrace was built by property developer and coach builder John Burford, and he named it after his daughter.

The White family lived at 11 Milford Street for more than 20 years. In 1879 Edward White signed a petition asking for sewers to be built in Milford Street.

By 1901 Edward and Esther had moved to Barton Mills in Suffolk, where they had lodgings at the railway station. In 1911, by which time Esther was disabled by arthritis (Cambridge Independent Press, 2 January 1914, page 7), they were back in Cambridge, living with their daughter Ellen Orders at 4 Milford Street. Edward died in 1912 and Esther in 1914.
