Tombstone, High Street, Burwell

History of Tombstone

Listed Building

Tombstone, limestone with large winged heart with flames and skull and cross bones. Modern inscription on back. ‘8 September 1727’, to commemorate the death of seventy-eight people in a barn fire who were attending a puppet-show. Situated c.40 yards to west of tower.
