Iron Age settlement at Witchford

History of Witchford

Proceedings of the CAS 2024 contains a short report on a small rural iron Age settlement and the earliest evidence of medieval occupancy at Witchford.

The Iron Age settlement was abandoned by the 1st century AD. There is also evidence of a waterhole, trackway and metalworking from the Late Anglo-Saxon period, and medieval cultivation practices.
