Hobson Street / Walles Lane

History of Hobson Street

In medieval times, once outside the Barnwell Gate, on the east side after crossing the King’s Ditch there was a lane which ran parallel to the ditch. Now Hobson Street, the, Walles Lane, on its east side were certain tenements and closes which became involved later in the foundation and extension of Christ’s College.
