91 Blinco Grove (Wymondham Cottage)

History of 91 Blinco Grove

In the early twentieth century this house was lived in by Mr and Mrs Peak who ran a sweet shop. Miss Naylor, who lived opposite, recalled in 1981 that when she was small she could buy black humbugs with white spots on, twelve for a penny, and Spanish liquorice that was very good for the voice.

The house later became the headmistress’s house. The former Morley head, Miss Murgatroyd, lived there with her friend, Miss Waterhouse, one-time principal of Homerton College (Cambridge Weekly New 1.10.1981).
