Willingham School

History of School

Willingham OS 1886

The earliest known school in the area was th Subscription School founded in 1593. It was probably the rector of Willingham, William Smith, who was the guiding hand. The school was financed by public subscription and the money collected invested in land. (See Charity School to Village College – Cottenham – Rampton – Willingham, Cottenham Village History Local History Group, 1968)
