6/6/1964: Compulsory purchase orders have been confirmed for the clearance of areas at Napier Street, Leeke Street, Coronation Street, Gold Street and Russell Street. But the Minister has excluded some properties in Newmarket Road and Burleigh Place together with no 9 Coronation Street which his inspectors say is fit for habitation. Objectors had claimed that compulsory acquisition would cause hardship and was not necessary for redevelopment. (Cambridge News)
