St Margaret’s Square was mainly built around 1926 on the site of an orchard. However, there is a cottage at the end of the cul-de-sac which may be older.
It was the home of Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd fame, who died in July 2006. The Independent newspaper published an obituary written by Robert Webb.

In 2007 the Guardian published a short article about Syd and his connection to St Margaret’s Square, also the home of his mother.
