George Henry Newman: Corporal 371002, 2nd/ 8th (City of London) Battalion (Post Office Rifles), London Regiment. Killed in action 20 September 1917. Aged 24. In the 1911 census he was the son of John and Fances Newman, aged 17, a postman, born Cambridge, resident 14 Mawson Road, Cambridge. According to the British Postal Service Appointment Books, 1737-1969 he was appointed as Assistant Postman in Cambridge in 1910 and then in 1913 as Postman in Cambridge. No known grave.
