In the 1881 census Josiah Bowyer is shown as living on Cambridge Road (Cherry Hinton Road. This was not the same house as in 1891; the later house is known to have been built in 1890, but it was probably quite near. In 1871 Josiah and family were resident in Fulbourn where he was a shepherd on Gulliman’s [?] Farm.

Josiah Bowyer, along with several others, fined 1s with 7s costs for moving pigs to the Cambridge Market on January 2nd. This seems to have been because of the lack of the proper license.
