In 1887 George Barnes lived here and Mrs S E Barnes was still living here in 1925

House built by Mark and Lettice Appleby. During the excavation of the site a doorstep was unearthed which it was speculated could have belonged to Newnham Villa.
The Applebys needed a licence to build their house after the war; they bought the freehold from the publican of the Red Bull across the road. The architect was called Myers; he had designed several houses in the vicinity of the Perse School.
