History of Linnet Terrace

Linnet Terrace is supposed to have been built by a man who made money selling songs birds such as linnets in London. (see https://www.visitcambridgeshirefens.org/documents/walks/Chatteris_A_Stroll_Around_Hive_End.pdf )

In 1901 the family had been living at South Park Street, Chatteris. Henry worked at the Chatteris Engineering Works. George was also a member of the West Park Street Baptist Church. He joined the Cambridge Volunteer Battalion in 1914. On the first day of the Battle of the Somme he was wounded in three places and died a week later in hospital.
