In the early 20th century the relationship between the Rector and his congregation was at very low ebb. (Vanishing Cambridgeshire p.118)
The CDN 18.7.1903 reported something like a riot in the village.
The CDN 1.6.1904 reported that the congregation had dwindled to eight and others were holding services in a dilapidated cottage.
